Project Details:
Located at the corner of 3rd Ave. and 7th St. in historic downtown Fernie, BC
44-units with mix of studio, one, and two-bedroom apartments
Targeting mixed incomes and working individuals and families
Minimum 30% of units will have affordable below market rents
Over 3000sf of ground floor commercial space including new office facilities for Elk Valley Family Society + 2250sf leasable space
45 parking spaces, including one level of underground parking
Construction expected to start June, 2025 with completion January, 2027
Project Team:
Elk Valley Family Society (Owner & Operator): a charitable non-profit society and housing provider.
New Commons Development (Development Manager): a non-profit development company managing the financing and project delivery on behalf of EVFS.
North Mountain Construction (Contractor): providing General Contracting and Construction Management services with offices in Nelson and Fernie.
Financial contributors and supporters: Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, BC Housing, Columbia Basin Trust, Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Elk Valley Resources and The City of Fernie, through a land donation and a $65,000 community contribution
